Goodbye to 812 Lincoln
Members of Uncle Rob’s family have called the house shown above “home” for the last seventy years. However, with the passing of Miriam Josephine (Kidd) Mason (Mom) in 2011 at the age of 101, the home is finally empty. 812 Lincoln Avenue, in Palo Alto, California was sold in 2012 and will probably be leveled for new construction. Goodbye old friend.

Sure looks a lot different all cleared out. I can still see Grandma Jo at her spot in the kitchen by the window. It’s good to see her bushes are cut low for maximum snooping! 😉
Such a lovely wee home. I happened to drive down Lincoln the other day and, sure enough, the notice was posted out in the front lawn. I’ll be sorry to see it go.
Lots of good memories in that house: scootering up and down the driveway, finding images in the floral wallpaper, sitting in Grandaddy Don’s lap in the burgundy leather chair, taking baths and using the scrub brush to “send my ship a sailing”, playing Robin Hood with my cousins and getting to be Maid Marion, Thanksgiving dinners, exploring the cobwebby basement, baking a pineapple upside down cake, hanging out with Grandma and her friends when the birthday group came over, gatherings of family in the living room, seeing Grandma’s reaction when I told her I was pregnant, watching Grandma listen to my daughter play the piano, and enjoying many conversations with Grandma over tea at her kitchen table. Good, good memories.
