The Art of Bee Yearian

Beatrice M. Yearian was my father’s sister known to me as “Aunt Bee.” Her formal training was that of a physicist and she was also married to a physicist. Both were on the faculty of Purdue University for many years. She was an enthusiastic artist and her scientific background is apparent in her art.

  1. I believe I have a painting by your aunt. It is very neatly signed “B. Yearian ’66”
I live in indianapolis, and I see from your brief profile of your aunt that she went to Purdue. I wonder if she painted it in her time there.

On a whim I did a google search of the name and found this website. The Internet is amazing.

  5. Mrs Yearian lived across the street from my family in West Lafayette. We had a couple of her paintings and the top painting shown here looks like the one that hung in our living room for many years. My mom may have returned that to her when they moved away? I still own one painting signed B Yearian ‘66 (not for sale). All of her art that I remember was abstract, but she painted me in 1961 or so when I was 5 or 6. Mr Yearian had an amazing train set that he would let us see sometimes. Such nice people.
